1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how AppZoho ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use Viona, our AI Pregnancy Test Assistant mobile application (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. By using Viona, you agree to the practices described here.
Viona is designed with privacy as a core principle: the App does not require an account, email address, or password, and you remain in control of your data at all times.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide Viona's features:
- Onboarding information: the name and age you provide when you first open the app, used to personalize your experience.
- Scan data: photos of pregnancy tests you choose to submit, along with the AI-generated result, confidence score, line analysis, and recommendations associated with each scan.
- App preferences: settings such as dark mode and notification preferences.
- Anonymous device identifier: a randomly generated identifier stored on your device that links your local data to your records in our database, without identifying you personally.
We do not collect your real name (beyond what you optionally enter), email address, phone number, or payment information, as Viona does not use accounts or payments in its current version.
3. Information Collected Automatically
Like most mobile applications, Viona may automatically collect limited technical information necessary for the app to function reliably, including:
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Crash logs and basic performance diagnostics
- General, non-precise usage data (such as which screens are opened) used to improve reliability
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, and it is not linked to your identity beyond the anonymous device identifier described above.
4. Images & Media
When you photograph or upload an image of a pregnancy test, that image is compressed on your device and securely uploaded to our storage infrastructure so that it can be analyzed and, if you choose, saved to your scan history.
Images remain linked to your scan history until you delete them. We do not use your images for marketing, and we do not sell your images to any third party.
5. AI Processing
To generate your result, the photo you submit is analyzed by an artificial intelligence model. The AI examines the image to detect control and test lines and returns a structured interpretation — a result category, a confidence score, a plain-language explanation, and next-step recommendations.
This analysis is automated. No AppZoho staff member routinely reviews individual scans; automated processing is used solely to generate your result and is not used to make any decision about you beyond displaying that result within the app.
6. Third-Party Services
Viona relies on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to operate. These providers process data strictly on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. They include our cloud database and storage provider and our AI analysis provider (see Section 7).
We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and we do not sell your data.
7. Google Gemini AI
Viona uses Google's Gemini AI model to analyze pregnancy test photos. When you submit a scan, your image is sent securely to Google's Gemini API for processing, and the structured result is returned to the app.
Google's handling of data submitted to its API is governed by Google's own terms and data-handling policies for API customers. We configure our integration to avoid unnecessary retention where Google's terms allow it, and we encourage you to review Google's API terms for further detail. We do not control Google's infrastructure and cannot guarantee its practices beyond what its terms specify.
8. Google Play Services
If you download Viona from the Google Play Store, Google may collect certain information as part of standard Play Store distribution, installation, and update services (such as device identifiers and install analytics), governed by Google's own privacy policy. This data collection occurs at the platform level and is separate from the data Viona itself collects.
9. Apple App Store Requirements
If you download Viona from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect certain information as part of standard App Store distribution and analytics services, governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Viona's App Store listing includes a Privacy Nutrition Label summarizing our data practices as required by Apple, consistent with this Privacy Policy.
10. Analytics
We may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate app usage (for example, how many users complete onboarding or a scan) so we can improve reliability and the overall experience. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to build individual advertising profiles. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy accordingly.
11. Data Storage
Your onboarding information, scan results, and images are stored in our secure cloud database and storage infrastructure (Supabase), protected by access controls that ensure your device can only read and write its own data. Data is stored on servers operated by our infrastructure provider and its underlying cloud hosting partners.
12. Data Retention
We retain your scan history, including images, for as long as you keep it saved in the app. Images are not automatically deleted or expired — deleting a scan (or choosing to delete all of your data) is what removes it, including its associated image and thumbnail, from our systems.
If you stop using Viona without deleting your data, your information remains stored under the same protections described in this policy until you delete it or request deletion by contacting us.
13. User Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information Viona holds about you, via the app's History and Settings screens
- Correct your name or age at any time in Settings
- Delete individual scans, or request deletion of all of your data
- Use the app without providing more information than is required for onboarding
To exercise any right not directly available in the app, contact us at support@appzoho.com.
14. Children's Privacy
Viona is intended for users who are at least 13 years old, and onboarding validates age within a reasonable adult/teen range. Viona is not directed at young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
15. Security
We apply industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission, access-controlled storage, and row-level security ensuring a device can only access its own records. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to continuously maintain and improve these protections.
16. International Data Transfers
Our infrastructure and AI providers may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where this occurs, we rely on our providers' contractual and technical safeguards intended to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection wherever it is processed.
17. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do, and material changes will be highlighted within the app where appropriate.
